I bought a used truck and the belt started to squeak when turning the steering wheel. The belt appeared to be in perfect condition. Aftermarket belt tensioner. So I got this part and installed it - still pretty much the same hoot - but! I could tell from the markings on this OEM part that my belt was worn out! The belt tension indicator was at the very end. I bought a new ACDelco belt, put it on, no screaming. It has so much more tension that it was difficult to put on. But now I can see on the gauge that it's at the very beginning of the gauge so I can watch the belt tension over time. Easy project, great part, much better checking later. It might work if you buy a cheaper tensioner, but now you have a way to tell if your belt is worn or something else is wrong.
