This is exactly the same as the factory. The original lasted 18 years. The seal is made in China. The metal case is stamped Made in Canada. Gates did it; This is also engraved on the case. For now, that stopped the whining noise. From what I've read in other reviews, you can also buy the Gates tensor. This is half price and the same.

This is a suitable replacement for the stock tensioner that has worn out on my 00 S10 4.3. Most of the part is metal with the inscription "Made in Canada". The black wheel is made of plastic, as is the standard tensioner. I would have preferred a metal wheel but it does the job. It seems to work fine, doesn't creak or click like an old worn one.
