I have an old door that is exactly 1.5" thick and needed an extra screw on the gasket to allow it to slide. A 1.25 inch thick door should fit. Installation requires two people and requires some patience. A design where two boards are joined together is far from ideal. The wheels don't slide evenly where the two bars meet and yes I used a bubble level throughout the installation process. The fact is that during assembly, the metal rods easily move away from each other. Shiny black fittings are not combined with the matte finish of metal rods. It's functional, but if perfection is what you're after, it's probably better to spend more money on a set that has all the details taken care of. If you need an inexpensive solution then this will work but doesn't deserve 4-5 stars.
