Inexpensive but effective solution!

I have a 2011 Lexus RX350. Like many other customers wanting to replace their worn hood stays with their own hands, I went to three local dealerships including the one I bought my car from. Prices at local retailers ranged from $65 to $85 per rack. So expect to spend at least $130 plus tax on an OEM pair. The left and right OEM pillars have distinctive decals and different Lexus part numbers. I only noticed this after removing the regularly worn steering racks. My hood wouldn't stay up and I didn't have to fall on my head or fingers every time I changed the oil. Mine had rust and the paint on the cylinders cracked under pressure. Removal was easy with a thin flat head screwdriver. I just had to pry off the metal tabs a bit without removing them completely. The metal grommets at each end of the struts engage the round grommets on the hood and fenders. Removal took 3 minutes. The replacement installation took less than 1 minute. They just snap in and you're done! They work great and only time will tell if they're worth the savings. The OEM racks didn't last 7 years, so if they last 4 years it's a good deal. I asked my son to hold the hood while I change it. Changing them was so easy that he didn't even have time to complain that he was tired of holding the hood. These substitutions do not denote left or right. To be honest the original A-pillars look the same on both sides so I don't know why they are labeled L or R. Do yourself a favor and save 75% off Lexus OEM prices. If you can't stomach the idea of aftermarket parts - FYI, OEM racks are made by a third party, not Toyota. They can be purchased online at several auto parts stores. I will update my review once I have a chance to see them worn.
