Review on ⛵ Uniden Atlantis 155: Waterproof VHF Marine Radio with Dual-Color Screen, NOAA Weather Alert, and Long Battery Life by Lynn Cole

Exactly what I was looking for

Received my order just in time to take with me on my sea kayaking trip. Before I set off, I wanted to familiarize myself with it. Needless to say, after reading the manual, installing the batteries (more on batteries in a second), and navigating the channels, I was ready to go. It's that simple, literally. Just read the guide, it will help you walk this path. What I like is that this radio offers triple weather alerts. This means that several channels are monitored every 2 seconds. I realize this is more applicable to boats/ships but I feel more secure knowing this is available to me. I also like the large clip that you snap at the back. I tried it on my life jacket (*before going in the water) and it fits perfectly, no problem putting it on. One thing to keep in mind. DO NOT USE THE BATTERIES SUPPLIED! During the setup and learning process, which requires you to turn the radio on and off for some tweaks, the batteries are about half dead. This can be dangerous when you are out on the water and have an emergency and need to make multiple calls for help. So I swapped out the crappy batteries and put mine in. I played with it for about 20 minutes just to see if my device was bad etc or it was the batteries. Of course, after I turned it on and off and changed the color of the backlight (which is very cool, by the way), the inserted batteries did not drain the battery. So, my radio is fine, only the batteries that come with it are terrible. So take them out, replace them with new batteries and enjoy your day on the water. Trust me you will feel a lot more confident with this wonderful radio. For your health.
