Very satisfied so far. In the summer I work as a park ranger and most of the time I work out kayaking in the salt water. My last PDA broke after two years. This one is much stronger. What's the price! I wish it came with a wall charger or charging port, but it will serve me well. I am currently looking for a dashboard mount as I will be charging while driving.

Does not use USB port for charging. It uses a 12V outlet (cigarette lighter). Older boats like mine have it on the panel, newer boats I don't know. It also doesn't show up when it's fully charged. You just need to let it charge for "13 hours". (What happens if you leave it charging for 24 hours?) It seems pretty quirky and dated in that regard.

I use this on my boat to update the weather and only in an emergency. You must order a battery charger. thats OK for me. I only had to charge it twice in a few months of use. For your safety while sailing, I recommend this marine radio for your safety. I also liked the fact that you can keep the radio with you rather than in an emergency. Abandon ship with a built-in marine radio. The same happens during power outages. You still have a safety net with the radio.

Spend lots of time on the water just like us. Some emergency supplies aren't a luxury, they're a necessity. We continue with boating and jet skiing. No matter how short or distant the day may be, the day can be calm or difficult. You never know, the handheld radio works well on most channels the marina uses and I can safely say it makes me feel safer. I also attest to its durability.

This item was sent to me on 06/16. They think I wanted to pay double money and wait 2 months for delivery in 2 days, but the second bill hasn't been returned yet! It doesn't help that Amazon support hung up after I asked if she was drunk! (She was drunk) so this is another request for a second bill refund! Also, the Coast Guard VHF radio is an emergency device, the people who order it plan to use it and it can be a matter of life or death and if we order it it's because we want it in a few days

First off I would like to say that this radio worked pretty well when it worked. The sound was clear and the range was good. The screen was bright and the battery life was good. However, there are some design flaws. First, it's a battery clip. Our clip broke within a month of owning the radio (attached with a zip tie around the entire radio). We weren't the only ones with our problem as we had seen at least one other cruiser with the exact same problem (it became a table joke that night)…
