I bought a top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro this year and have struggled to use it for work as I'm heavily dependent on dual monitors. That meant I had to use two USB-C to DisplayPort cables, a USB-C to USB-A hub, and another cable to power my MacBook. With this monitor I connect ONE Thunderbolt/USB-C cable to my MacBook and it works fine. The monitor has four USB-A ports (2 on the back, two on the side) which I use to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse. Although these ports only work at USB 2.0 speeds when connected via USB-C, I don't mind since I don't use them for high-speed data transfer. .Almost all other USB-C ultra wide monitors (except LG UltraFine) offer no more than 60W input power. for the difference. Dell U3818DW delivers 100W of upstream power! Now let's move on to the display itself. Image quality. It is simply amazing when it comes to image quality and text legibility. I bought an LG 34UC79G and hated using it for anything that required displaying long texts. The Dell U3818DW runs at 3840 x 1600 (111 dpi) and has about 40% more pixels than my old LG 34UC79G at 2560 x 1080 (82 dpi). I can work with Excel spreadsheets on Dell all day and my eyes don't get tired while LG gives me a headache almost immediately. I play Call of Duty sometimes and I have to say that the game is impressive on this monitor. Although it only has a 5ms response time and a 60Hz refresh rate, it meets my needs for the small number of games I use it for. Build: This thing is built like a tank! It arrived via UPS in a double box with lots of "heavy" stickers. The manufacturer's box is very thick, with plenty of packaging to keep it safe during transit. The monitor alone weighs around 27 pounds and feels very solid with the included stand. It can be VESA mounted if you want to keep the space under the monitor free (which I might end up doing). Connectivity: 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 (HDCP 2.2) 2 x HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2) 2 x USB 3.0 upstream 2 x USB 3.0 downstream (side) 2 x USB 3.0 downstream (bottom) 1 x USB Type-C (Alt mode with DP1 .2, Power Delivery and USB 2.0) The built-in speakers are decent but definitely don't give you the bass sound you would get from an external set of computer speakers. Overall, this monitor is everything I was looking for to complement my 2017 15" MacBook Pro with a single cable solution. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but you'll be very pleased when you see it in person. That means that You are limited to snapping two windows side by side. If you need more windows, you will need to resize and reposition them manually. Kerami cannot be controlled using the volume controls on the keyboard. Again, limitation due to lack of Mac software/drivers. 3) Changing the input data is a bit fiddly, auto-detection can be annoying, and selecting manual input requires too many keystrokes, while these are minor complaints, it's not that hard to ask for Mac drivers and software when it is is a $1,000+ computer monitor with USB-C support.
