I bought this to use with my HTC vive VR headset because the room my computer is in doesn't have enough space to do VR to play. Worked great to extend my USB cable 100ft to another room but as other reviews have mentioned it started lagging / intermittent / having connection issues after 6 months. After I swapped out the ethernet cable I was using (it was bought new at the same time as this extender) it started working again. Well, about 10 months after purchase, and it finally died, the computer says "USB device not recognized", on the "remote" device all three lights are on, on the "local" device everything is glowing except for the green indicator "device, when i shake it, the green light on both flashes, so i suspect a broken solder somewhere. Long story short, i think i'll cut my losses and save $300 for one Spend USB 3.0 fiber optic cables instead of buying a new one every year.
