I purchased this product based on positive previous reviews. The LED light is very bright and not intended for use in normal lighting conditions. You need to have a low light situation and you also need to point the end of the hook away from you while crocheting (if using the crochet pen style) as the light is so bright that you like to hold the needle to the side (I do it when). I hold my hooks "pencil style", not "knife style". In the dark you can see the dark yarn you are using. I bought it to see black yarn but that's only possible when used in the dark or in very low light. not in normal light. The hook handle is very comfortable to use. The needle hook is made of durable acrylic, not cheap plastic. Don't worry it will break. Yes, the size is indeed larger than the standard K. More like an L in the next size up. Therefore, consider larger sizes than indicated when ordering. I'm used to metal hooks so I used wax paper to make the end of the hook more slippery because the yarn doesn't slide over the hook as easily as it does on a metal hook. General. the product works as advertised.
