Cut Porcelain Tiles Effortlessly

I drilled a few holes in 3/8 inch porcelain stoneware using a 1/4 inch drill bit. It worked great. These blades claim to be dry useable but I think they perform more efficiently and last much longer when used wet. I simply used an empty water bottle, poked a small hole in the cap after refilling it, wrapped a towel around the work area to soak up all the water, and drilled at low speed while the helper sprayed the water. The system works great. Protecting drill bits from overheating while drilling prolongs their lifespan.

Pros
  • Wax the drill bit to cool it down so you can drill holes without water. Water can be used as additional cooling to extend bit life.
Cons
  • Slightly torn
