This is a very nice, flexible rubber-like material that will not damage the tops of my new wooden tables. Be aware, however, that condensation from your cold drink will drip into the coaster's cracks and crevices (which is necessary to keep water off the table), but if there's a lot of condensation (say you leave your glass). there for a while), the coaster will "fill up" and the water will overflow onto your table. So you need to pay attention to that and also shake the water out of the stand. So they retain condensate up to a point, but don't absorb it. I love them and the colors are beautiful.
