As a knitter, I know the importance of blocking out knit fabrics. But I'm not an experienced knitter, so my own creations don't need these blocking needles. However, the woman in my knitting group (who has been temporarily disbanded due to the pandemic) is an experienced knitter who creates exquisite lace shawls and wraps, which she sells at a ridiculously low price: the cost of yarn. THESE scarves I bought need blocking when I hand wash them to get rid of the cigarette smoke smell. (Unfortunately she smokes, which of course transfers to the wool.) I was just trying to seal the wet cloths with a towel. But these pens are MUCH better. You need barrier mats; I do not think so,
