DO NOT BUY! BUY A REAL EDELBROCK KIT!

I don't normally write reviews but it has to be said. This review was written by a retired ASE Master Tech Certified Senior Mechanical Engineer. I wish I had read the other reviews before buying this set but I bought it based on the mis-description! Carburettor 1406 does not fit. I ended up being able to use several gaskets from the kit. The first picture contains all the details. You can see the floats look like Stevie Wonder soldered them together and they're paper thin. The next problem is that the seat and needle mounting hole is too big. The needle actually goes into the hole. There is no way to turn off the fuel to monitor the fuel level! If you assembled the carburetor this way and somehow got the engine running, it would quickly start pumping fuel out of the bowl ports and become a fire hazard. Also note the damage to the screwdriver slot. The thread did not match the carburetor cover. I started screwing them in and quickly stopped when I realized the threads weren't right. I caused this damage trying to get her back. Then I tried to insert the accelerator pump connector but the hole for the connector was too small! So I had to remove the cap and reuse my old accelerator pump assembly. I ended up losing $40 on several gaskets (of dubious quality) and two float needles, and reusing 20 year old original parts to fit this carburetor. Together again. Oh, and let's not forget that if this carb doesn't work properly, I'll have to shell out another $40-$50 for a quality kit.

Pros
  • Fuel system
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
