This is a great port expander for Surface Pro 7. Connects instantly. Reliable - nothing dangles or dangles. My SP7 recognized it immediately. Works with my trackball mouse and reads my SD card with no issues. However, it is designed in such a way that the SD card sticks out and does not fit completely into the slot. This can be dangerous if you're not careful. Get too close to the device and get stuck on the back of the SD card. This can come loose, destroy the card and damage the device. The card must be fully inserted into the reader and not dangling (see image). Other than that, I like the extra ports it gives me. Now my SP7 can fully replace the laptop it was purchased for.
