I bought these for my 2 and a half year old twins, they are big now and will grow well with them. My 5 year old loves it too. I love the raw wood finish and it's stronger than most on the market, even the more expensive ones. I found the clamp very tight and held the paper roll well. Both boards are a good size and the deep board side shelf is a nice feature, wish the other shelf was the same; It's just a bowl shaped shelf mostly for markers. The joints appear to be more fragile and thinner than other areas of the slab. In fact, in an area where the horizontal part connecting the legs is the area where the screw handle is only divided into two parts. When we received it the triangular part holding the paper hanger was completely removed so my husband had to redo it. The area around one of the height adjuster wing nuts was also broken so we had to replace the wood. We're 50 miles from the nearest UPS store so returns are a big deal so we're willing to do repairs. When things like this happen to you, I hope you feel good. After the renovation we've done, it's sturdy and fun.
