Significantly improves handling

I installed this kit on my 1988 F150 with a 4.9 liter inline 6 engine. These things aren't exactly horsepower monsters, rated at just 145hp, so any extra I can get is very welcome. When I installed it, the difference was immediately noticeable. It's less prone to attempting to stall from a dead stop on takeoff. When the high idle came down when the engine was about halfway up normal operating temp, it always wobbled and charged under acceleration. This behavior has completely disappeared. Significantly less petrol is required at motorway speeds than before. My vacuum gauge, which I track in miles per gallon, reads about 3 inches of mercury higher at 65 mph than it was before the installation, which is tremendous. It feels like it has less torque and is springier throughout the rev range. The idle has even leveled off a bit. What surprises me the most about this upgrade is that it is a warm air intake design while the factory uses cold air but produces more power and torque. Since it's warm air, it should also increase MPG. I can't say enough good things about it yet. If you own one of these trucks and need to remain legal in California, BUY THIS KIT! You will not regret it. I'll report the results in mpg once I've done a few tanks.
