I haven't given enough thought to the concept of retractable phone holders. I have found that this is not the best way to hold your phone due to the nature of the pop socket which allows the phone to rotate freely. When you turn a corner, your phone shakes. It's just not safe and actually quite distracting. This must be taken into account. That being said, this holder is very well made and includes two thin pieces of metal that attach to a magnet. Here's how I ended up using it. Even with my huge phone (Samsung Note 10+) it's holding up great so far, even on bumpy roads etc. I was ready to return it but decided to try the magnet first and was pleasantly surprised. It's easier than holding your phone in a clip as you can just put it on the magnet and take it off again. However, it also seems to stay in place REALLY well. The only caveat is that you now have a round piece of metal inside your case, which some might find too unsightly. The part that attaches to your air vent is beautifully designed and should last a long time.
