I've had issues with the belts on my 1990 350SDL for the last few years and ended up having to change them twice where I got stuck (tip: always keep a spare belt in the trunk of a 30 year old car). ). I've used a hanger to thread the strap through the bottom and through the tensioner, both times with less than satisfactory results. It works, but only with a lot of effort and frustration and barely enough time to achieve it. This tool is much longer and fits perfectly in the area where I need to reach and thread the tape. Haven't really used it yet, but next time it should make things a lot easier. I wish there wasn't a next time, but with this car I have to be prepared.
