Review on πŸ”’ High-Quality Locking Fuel Cap, 1-3/4 in. Dia. for Optimal Car Security by Nick Brunner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Strange lock design

This gas cap is a bit difficult to use compared to other gas caps I have had on other cars. It's pretty confusing if you haven't had one before. At first I thought it was broken since the key only turns 1/4 turn and not 1/2 (ie: lock and unlock positions). The key only opens it. Screwing it in tight is what locks it in place. Then you have to make sure that it is locked by trying to unscrew it again. I'm deducting a star because of the weird design. It feels a little cheap, but on the other hand. it was reasonable for the price. Unless you drop it, step on it, or drive your car over it, it should work fine under normal use. And the last thing I don't like, the keys I got with it DO NOT say "GAS" like the photo shows and like other gas lock cover keys do. Instead, it shows the lock code, which is also printed on the outside of the lock cylinder. Presumably to be able to order a spare key in case of loss? It seems somewhat defeats the purpose of security when a Shmo can walk around with a bunch of gas cap keys and look at yours to see if they have the right one.
