I bought this to plan panels of wood on a homemade router using an aluminum angle for the router and 3x3 square steel tubing for the rails. Just what I had available and I wanted it to last. At first I only planed 24" wide, then I joined the two boards together and it should have been 48" wide, which was the extreme limit of my cutting slide attachment. I glued small pieces of plywood to keep the router from touching the steel tubes. I think I got carried away and ended up knocking off the end stop and hitting the steel tube with the club. The blades looked in perfect shape even after I removed about 1/16 inch from the steel tube. I continued to use the chisel with no noticeable drop in performance, although I only planed about 1/16 of an inch at a time. .Glued back the plywood and did it again! Two examples with tubular steel and still perfect blades. No chips or anything like that. In any case, I've done at least 10 more passes and will continue to use it until I can do more.
