Smelly: Soak in Dawn and Baking Soda FIRST

They arrived quickly but like many people I bought them to go under the treadmill which is inside but they had a really VERY bad rubber smell. I soak them in Dawn dish soap my first day (hey, if it cleans ducks and birds of oil stains, that might work). If the smell goes away after a few days I'll reconsider. I suggest people try this if keeping them because they are very durable and sturdy, probably better for outdoor use. UPDATE: Day 3: After soaking these and some DAWN dish soap AND cool water and adding lots of baking soda, I would put half a small box in for rinsing for about three days, changing the water once a day, which they're definitely tolerable for den Price, you can find something else that doesn't smell like a rubber factory. But I put them under the treadmill in the very small second bedroom and you can't smell them. I can add a Glade plug but you really won't smell them under the treadmill, they work perfectly, very firm, very thick - just make sure you soak them first or keep soaking until the smell is bearable, and take them out into the air. It has been recommended that if you have carpet under your treadmill that you really want to put something like this in there as you can damage the carpet if it gets too close to your carpet, but you don't need an extra cushion, just this one.
