As an amateur who usually uses what's available or what's cheapest, I was skeptical of spending so much money for so little solder; However, I have to admit that I was very surprised at how much of a difference this particular solder makes. Retaining less solder than a traditional spool, it provides a convenient way to incorporate solder into your project. I've found it particularly handy when soldering headers as it allows you to get nice and close to your project while maintaining complete control over how much solder you need at any given time. However, Kester Lot really shines with its quality and I have never been so impressed and pleasantly surprised by a purchase that I never thought was as important as it turned out to be.
