It was a nightmare opening the tailgate but once I did it I was finally able to replace the factory engine with this one and it's working great so far.

GOOD PRODUCT TO INSTALL, MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE CONNECTING THE UNIT. OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AFTER INSTALLATION AND WAIT 10 MINUTES AND IT WILL WORK NORMALLY.

After watching how to change the lock on YouTube I decided to try it myself. I'm not a mechanic but it was very easy. I think I saved over $200 in labor costs. It only took about half an hour. The lock itself was delivered on time, well packaged and works perfectly. No problems with ordering and installation.

Installed last week so far so good. Looks high quality, easy to assemble. The only notable differences from the factory unit are the cheaper dust seal material and when the door closes it makes a mechanical click which I believe is the locking mechanism. This isn't provided from the factory, but it works great, so there's no reason to suspect that the clicking noise is a problem. Tailgate wouldn't open. I watched some videos on the internet. If you know how, then it's not difficult to replace. Just don't forget to reset the locks on 4runner. This includes disconnecting the battery, reconnecting and cycling all windows, rear trunk window and sunroof.

My 2005 4Runner broke in the open position during reassembly. I did everything to delete it but it still didn't work. Until that arrived, I simply ran a zip tie between the grab bar and the rear seat's LATCH point. This device stood up immediately after removing the rope and works flawlessly. A little louder than factory operation. It's been about 30 minutes since Revane arrived and my sunroof closed by itself again.
