40 250 605 TRIPLE OPTION Interior Review

Bought to fix the lock on the bathroom door after the old one stopped working. This one came with a yellow faceplate, but I reused the silver piece from the broken lock. Much cheaper than replacing the entire lock on the door.

My Schlage lock's locking mechanism failed and I bought this replacement part which worked great. It was reasonably priced and saved me from having to replace the entire door lock mechanism which would have cost a lot more to replace. Highly recommended if you have a broken door latch. They don't seem easy to care for when they do.

Warning: This device has a weak spring. If the buyer is using a contractor's standard doorknobs, it probably doesn't matter much. We have lever locks, and levers are relatively heavy. My lever weighs enough that the spring cannot return when the lever is depressed. I eat the cost because the device is not "defective" but I regret the purchase.

This is the second one I've had to buy to fix the Schlage locks on my 15 year old house that keep breaking. In both cases, it was the metal part of the pot that took all the mechanical stress of opening the door each time it was used. Shame on Schlage! But at least it's a fairly cheap and easy solution. Hope it lasts at least 15 years!

I would give 5 stars but it is brass contrary to the picture so I am deducting 1 star. My front door lock no longer worked, to open a door with a broken handle I had to disassemble the old one. I order all the slam locks in the house separately, if they happen again there will be a replacement.

This was a good solution for me. My front door latch is broken and the internal parts are broken making it impossible to open the door. Instead of swapping out the $150 door kit, I decided to swap out the internals first. Always cheaper than buying a new lock and fumbling with the right keys, a replacement latch can come in handy. These combo kits work with two modern common tails; 2 3/8 and 2 3/4 inch automatic. There are no parts to fiddle with. This will work if your door has an edge groove (cavity) with square, rounded edges, and also if your door has a hole as small as a one inch.
