Description of High-Quality 500ft 18AWG 2 Conductor CL2 Rated Loud Speaker Cable Wire - Ideal for In-Wall Installation (18AWG / 2 Conductors, 500ft)

CCA (COPPER CLAD ALUMINUM) – CCA wire offers the same signal frequency and reliability in terms of corrosion resistance to copper wire. The advantage of the CCA speaker wire is lighter and more flexible than copper wire. The cost of CCA vs Oxygen free copper is much lower and you can enjoy the same functions and reliability as copper wire without paying the extra cost for the installation. Tough, yet flexible white insulated jacket is market with a stripe on one side for polarity and is marked with FT count for easy installation. The 43 Strands 0.16mm conductors provide exceptional performance, sound quality for professional speaker and audio connections. 18/2 cable rated CL2 for in-wall use, complies with fire safety for use inside the walls of residential class buildings. Pull-Out Box with multiconductor cable reduces need to pull multiple wires for easy installation.

In the wall application.

I was very surprised to find out when checking the code on the speaker wires going through the walls that require a specially coded wire. wow, true! Checked online and found it to be very expensive at your local brick and mortar store. This was the best purchase I researched using this particular code. I'm really impressed with the quality of the wire and the coating.

To stay updated. Disgusting smell.

Excellent speaker cable. Get a lot for the price and it sounds good. The only downside is that this wire smells pretty bad, like chemicals. I know smelling like chemicals makes sense, but he was pretty strong and annoying with his power. Luckily, the smell wears off after a few days and completely disappears after a few months. Keep in mind. Disgusting smell. for your information

Cheap Chinese quality but it works

This is a very cheap 4 core wire which reminds you how thin the 16 AWG gauge wire is. It works once installed, but if you want to use it in an existing build, don't even think about it. I pulled a few feet through a solid piece of drywall and the outer shell almost collapsed in places. You could probably scratch it with a miniature fingernail if you wanted to.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Good but not great

Ok for the price, could be better.

The plastic insulation is very soft, it bends easily and just as easily breaks. If you're not careful when stripping, you'll cut a lot of wires inside. I thought it might come with a ground wire but it doesn't. It includes a cord that easily cuts through the wire insulation and keeps all 4 wires out of the winding. If you just need cheap wiring for any project this is for you, but I wouldn't use it for something that will last forever because it's so soft and brittle.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • There are nuances

Good quality cable for accessories and consumables

I use it a little off label but we'll see how it holds up. with thicker UL rated wire. Less than 16g is hard to come by with a rating so it was pretty much all I could find in a short length. Small enough to stick in cracks. There is no direct pass where these speakers are. but there is extra packaging for a little extra protection. I'm worried about how it will hold up in temperature changes as it's not designed for outdoor use, but we'll see how it performs.

Not suitable for high-quality sound.

In my opinion, this cable is not suitable for use in audio cables and especially in high-end audio equipment. When using CCA, and in order to achieve the desired results upon delivery, the audio cable must have a certain percentage of copper plating. This was not stated anywhere in the manufacturer's description, which I think is very important and should apply to anyone using this product in high quality audio equipment. When I was soldering bare wires the copper jacket came loose as soon as…

Liquid in cable housing

Received the cable in the mail quickly and was very happy to be up and running. When I laid my first cable, everything was taut. I cut the wire, tore off the outer shell. and inside it was damp. I have never seen any liquid in the cable. At first I thought it was some kind of oil, and I thought maybe it was supposed to be there. But then the liquid dried on a paper towel, so I'm guessing it's water. It didn't smell of oil or isopropyl alcohol. Also, there were portions of the wire itself that…

Great but... 21ft of wire shorted

Bought exactly what was needed for the outdoor rewiring... 100ft of white wire 18g And another 100ft of black wire 16g ( from another seller). Excellent goods. Unfortunately, the 18g white wire was exactly 21 feet shorter (missing) and we had to finish our project with the 16g black wire. I didn't notice the lack of wire as it was locked in a box and there was a wire sticking out of the hole in the center that was secured with clear tape. The other black wire was on a spool wrapped in clear…

Thin speaker wire if you understand the limitations

Installing a modern home theater system with height channels requires LOTS of speaker wire. I've walked over 300 feet of this stuff by inserting a 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos enabled system into a 20 x 14 ready room. And since I was trying not to completely destroy the space I had to do some fun runs to get the wires where they needed to be and work around most of the existing drywall. This material was pretty easy to work with, you just have to be careful when removing it so you don't pull too many…
