Wires are molded together and cannot be interchanged. I found out that the left turn signal wire was connected to the reverse lights, which can cause many problems if not found before installation. I bought this to replace a damaged 7 pin and add a 4 pin spade connector. Unlike the one I bought 5 years ago, this one has 4 pins on the side. I didn't use the included support bracket because I had another Curt that mounts to the hitch, but the installation was easy. Depending on your setup you may need a 4 pin adapter harness and cables to go from the battery and brake controller to the 7 pin. In this case, it makes sense to purchase a kit that includes these additional items.

This has a FATAL design flaw. The floor doubles with the factory floor at level 4, and the additional floor you screw into the chassis is smaller. All they had to do was leave the small factory ground on the 4 pin connector unconnected to the 7 pin connector and make a ground for the 7 pin cable the same gauge as the charge and brake cables. This is a good connector set that has everything you need. I like the fact that the 4 pin connector is kept alongside the 7 pin connector without the need for a 7 pin to 4 pin adapter, it's just more convenient. My only concern, as others have mentioned, is that the L bracket that holds the connectors is made of the wrong gauge steel. Too much flex for my comfort when inserting or removing the plug. If time allows, I'll probably make it myself from a standard, thicker material.
