This tool worked very well on my 16v Scirocco. There wasn't much play so being able to adjust was perfect. The pins felt good in the tensioner. Enough space and torque to get the job done with this tool.

The tool is well made and snaps onto the spanner very well. It can be set to 180* for easy setup. There is a set screw to hold it in place. The problem was that the timing belt and water pump were replaced after the timing belt broke. I restored the soft top and did not remove the new water pump. There is practically no space to install a tensioner with a pump. The tool is too thick to get past the pump. I removed the handle and made a new one for the front of the instrument. I bought this tool to replace a piece of angle steel with two bolts that I have used for years when I needed to replace the timing belt on my VW. This 8MILELAKE tool is a good replacement, although I modified it to allow access in tight spaces with the motor mount installed. I ground some of the material off it to match and also countersunk the dowel pin hole in the handle on the opposite side of the tool so I could move the handle to the other side and give the tool a thinner profile if…
