Works as advertised

Bought for 03 Malibu had to replace it with a tumble program turned out to be no problem. It turned out to be the relay under the hood. It should be possible to switch the relay that starts the cooling fan to an air conditioning/heating relay. The funny thing is that I changed them and found that was the problem. Then I switched them back and it continued to work. I'm scratching my head about this.

worked perfectly. return all fan speeds.

Great item. oem ac delco and made in japan not china. a little tricky to install but remove the plastic under the dash (1 plastic clip and two 7mm), remove the fan motor (three 7/32 screws, this step is not 100% necessary but it makes access a lot easier), then finally two 7/32 screws holding the plate. resistance present. the rotary adapter makes this much easier. Not a terrible job to be honest.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Unreliable

Precise fit. - Spare parts

It's not the part's fault that GM placed this resistor so close to the firewall that it's almost impossible to get to the rear screw to change the old one to remove and install a new one. Luckily my teenage grandson with small flexible hands was able to tighten the screw so a flexible screwdriver could be used for proper installation. Once installed it worked exactly as intended, the car now has all fan speeds.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • I don't remember

lasted less than 1 week

Thought I'd do it myself. After 20 minutes installation, the air conditioner worked and the lifespan was good, but only for 4 days. AC stopped working again. My mechanic was surprised when he pulled out the faulty part and told me it was a poor quality part. He went through my car's history on the computer and it's been a few years since he last changed the previous resistor. I would not buy this part again as it did not save me any money.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Fan speed problem solved

My brother in law 2001 Chevy Malibu only had fan speeds 4 and 5. I ordered this replacement and Revain kindly confirmed that it would fit and work. I turned down the cheaper Dorman because of a few less than 4 reviews, it was a bit longer than the original but it fit. It was located directly in front of the fire wall on the inside on the passenger side. Pretty hard to get to and you need a 7/32, 1/4 socket with an angle swivel adapter and an extension to get the screws out. A good flashlight…

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Exactly the part I needed.

I ordered an ACDelco 15-8966 Auxiliary Fan Motor Resistor for my mother's 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. For some reason the air/heater only blows on setting "5". 1 to 4 does not work. After a little research I realized that this is the problem. This part was a bit of a hassle to install. It generally took me about an hour after maneuvering under the glove box. I am not complaining in any way. I was so happy when it actually installed and I turned on the fan and all the settings worked properly for my…

Fan speed problem solved!

I think I've had to replace one of these in almost every car I've owned over the past 20 years. They seem to last 8 or 10 years and then they tend to lose the lower fan speeds first and generally the top speed stays operational. This time it was at my daughter's 2003 Grand Am. I've done the same model before and I'm having a hard time getting the mounting screws out as they are hidden behind the fan motor and directly across from the car firewall at the passenger's feet behind the glove box…
