Easy DIY job

Great under the hood of a 2012 Acura MDX. My wife thought I closed the tailgate as the door would not open intermittently. When the same started under the hood. Diagnosis - The original supports both rear (hatch) and front (bonnet) are simply worn out. So I replaced the struts under both for less money than the dealer fees for tire changes and oil changes! Very easy to change and has been working great ever since.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Functionality

Super easy to install and works great!

Unbelievable how easy these are to install. I watched a few videos on youtube. You simply pull out the retaining clip and they are instantly removed. Install, just click on it. Each side literally took about 1 minute. And man, they keep the hood. It's not often that you get a product that exceeds expectations, especially when it comes to fixing something. But they were so easy to replace I don't know why I didn't do it sooner!

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Expandable

They fit my 2008 MDX but aren't as smooth as OEM

These are a decent replacement for my stock cowl stays for my 2008 Acura MDX. They're noticeably louder than OEM and not as smooth. They cost half as much as a normal luggage rack and they fit in my car. If removing the original posts, insert a flathead screwdriver between the metal clip and pry it away from the post, or remove the clip completely from the end of the post. Have someone help you support the hood or it will fall on your head. You must clean and lubricate the ball joints before…

Perfect for 2011 MDX

After 8 years of ownership my MDX hood struts started to fail and wouldn't hold the hood up for more than a minute or two. After learning that OEM replacement parts are $45 each, I looked up Revains and found that they sold in pairs for almost half the price of one from Acura. I ordered them straight away and installed them in less than 5 minutes including removing the old one. They simply snap into place with no additional hardware to remove. The first few open/close strokes didn't seem too…

Amazing Quality OEM

It's amazing. I have a 2009 MDX and when I checked the oil a few weeks ago my wife thought it would be fun to hit the panic button on my spare key which I had left on a hook in the kitchen. He waved his hands, banged on the old rack, it cracked and all the gas spilled out. I figured it would probably be better and more economical to buy a pair of racks and replace both. Acura charged $120 to replace both. I paid $26 for the door, installed it in less than 5 minutes (until my keys were next to…

Easy to install, seems to work as expected in my 2008 Acura MDX

. They arrived in perfect condition, not bent or cracked anywhere. There are no instructions, but after a quick look at the ones still on my car and these new ones, it was pretty obvious how to replace them. Using a flathead screwdriver, I removed the clips on each end of the existing post and then removed it from the tabs. The new design simply snapped onto the grommets that the old post was attached to. No adjustments or anything else are required. I repeated this with another rack. The top…
