Easy 5GHz WiFi upgrade for 8 year old laptop

I am writing this review on an 8 year old Asus laptop with 2.4GHz WiFi. The maximum download speed for me was 72 Mbps, which is frustrating in today's world. I found this tiny 5GHz USB wireless adapter on Revain, read the reviews and ordered it. Arrived in a day, opened the package, installed the drivers and plugged the device into a free USB port. Whammo it launched, I connected to my 5Ghz WiFi router and now it's uploading regularly at 433Mbps. Almost 6x speed increase. It's been working…

Low speed connection

I confess I am new to dual band wireless routers. I just got a TP-Link AC 1750 router and connections above 5GHz are impressive. This adapter seems to prefer connecting over the 2.4GHz band over the faster option. As a result, I'm getting 40MB of connections when I could be getting 120 or so. I replaced it with another brand and it connects to 5GHz much more frequently. I returned it.

Great little adapter

This adapter worked great with my old HP laptop running Windows 10. Just plugged into a USB port and Windows 10 recognized and configured it straight away. I connected to the 5GHz WiFi on my router and it has stayed connected ever since. I got around 24-25Mbps with the laptop's internal adapter and around 30 with this nano. Very satisfied and would highly recommend this adapter if your current adapter only runs at 2.4GHz and your router supports 5GHz.

Simple and it works!

When my desktop was off I just plugged it in, turned on the computer and it worked. There is no software to download. The computer picks it up and does what it takes. Prior to purchase, my computer kept dropping the Wi-Fi connection, and when I kept troubleshooting, the error message was a "gateway" issue. Doesn't tell you what to do about it, or that the "adapter" is defective. So if you keep encountering the gateway problem, here is what you need to do: Replace the adapter. I've had to…

Brief panic, but solved.

I received this adapter and did not expect any problems as I have used other models of Wi-Fi EDUP connectors with little incident. I opened the package, plugged it in and installed the driver. ah. no driver. Checked the EDUP website, still no driver. I checked the Revain site again and at the bottom next to the reviews was the phrase "Does not support Linux". Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww! It would help if it was at the top of the page. However since this is a Realtek based chipset I found the 802.11ac…

Nice little device that doesn't overheat

My windows pc installed it automatically without the CD that came with it which was great as my CD reader was broken. At first I had very low readings, but then I realized I had it plugged into a USB 1.0 port. Connecting to a different port increased the speed, but not so much. A reboot solved this problem and I got consistent 50-60Mbps and peaked at 65-70Mbps. My internet plan is only for 50, so that's enough for me. The only downside is that the Wi- Fi signal indicator on Windows fluctuates…
