This bike chain does what it says on the tin, made from high quality steel and with a countersunk, anti-drill lock. But it's heavy, over 6 pounds, too heavy for me to comfortably carry on a bike. I recommend it as a good bike lock to have at home, but to secure the bike on the go it needs something more.

Bought this to protect something on my ground level patio from theft. I am happy with the output! The chain will not be easy to break and the lock will not violently succumb. To date I am not aware of any attempted theft, but I am confident that this lock and chain will be a sufficient deterrent to all but the most determined thief. Needless to say, it's hard. Not sure I'd want to carry it around for use in a mobile situation.

Anyone can cut a bike chain with an angle grinder in about 3 minutes, no matter the thickness. That extra minute or two matters, though, because cutting the chain creates a lot of noise, a lot of sparks, and a lot of suspicion. Nice welds on the chain. A quality medium/heavy duty case over the chain that looks and feels like a great deterrent and durable security feature for even a well equipped bike thief. Now admittedly I didn't read the lock specs on the websites, it's a bit smaller than I thought it would be. Bought the lock and chain excited about the good price ($93 for 6ft size). When I received it I measured the thickness and the lock is actually 14mm thick (maximum) and that is with a rubber coating around it. It's listed as 16mm thick, so that's a disappointment.
