It's hard to imagine a DVR any worse than the 11 year old base unit it replaced. You cannot use the built-in web interface as its plugins are not installed, so you just need to download the software to control the device remotely. The software also has issues, I can't re-edit the motion detection on the camera without closing and re-opening the app. If you don't want to manage the device remotely, OK.UPDATE could install the old Internet Explorer. He downloaded and installed the plugin, but it…

WARNING. Amcrest only guarantees compatibility with its own cameras

This product does NOT support all major IP cameras, although it claims it does. Even sellers make false claims. Then when you receive the product and try to use it, they say that it is only compatible with Amcrest cameras. You will then be charged a restocking fee AND RETURN FEES when you return the product! Buy from another manufacturer and avoid hassles! UPDATE: 12/15/18. Amcrest refunded the restocking fee for my purchase and apologized for the misrepresentation of the product. Again, I'm…

Redesigned to work worse!

I have used Amcrest for years to install new systems and upgrade old systems. Unfortunately, as of today, this will no longer be the case. I purchased this unit as an upgrade for a customer with an existing Night Owl system. After installation, it does not recognize half of the existing cameras. (All chambers are identical). This is coaxial technology, not rocket science. I called support and they told me they have no support for compatibility issues with their systems and they recommended…

Well designed, easy to use and reliable.

I am a big fan of Amcrest products. This latest 1080p system replaces another Amcrest system I had. I tried another manufacturer's system and was very disappointed. Amcrest is reliable, easy to use and accessible from anywhere without errors. I also like the fact that it's compatible with both 720P and 960h cameras; I didn't have to buy 16 high-resolution cameras at once. The only downside, if you can call it that, is that you have to make sure you're using a compatible video or surveillance…

Easy setup, expandable.

Conclusion: Easy to assemble without reading the instructions. Software available for Windows (64-bit), Android and Apple means I can control my cameras remotely and locally from my PC, phone or tablet. I chose 16 channels because it helps cover my entire house inside and out and gives me plenty of additional channels to expand. Motion detection wasn't that intuitive to set up, but a quick read of the manual got me what I wanted. Note that the default motion sensitivity is at the maximum, so do

Very bad tech support

To be honest I received my package with no issues, installed the hard drive with no issues, plugged it in and booted up with no issues. When this happened I got everything set up, done, but I had no video from any of my cameras. I played around a bit before calling tech support, when they told me my cameras weren't compatible with this system I was furious. Revain ads and Q&A said my cameras would work with no issues. Anyway, I unplugged everything and plugged my old system back in to prepare…

Not much yet.

***UPDATE*** Received a replacement, it came with everything, instruction manual, mouse was sealed, there were screws for the hard drive, the hard drive cables were disconnected from the unit, this means that they are already installed on the old one. The device was pretty easy to set up, I cut my finger on the thin metal body. Setup was really easy. It has many controls for the camera and display modes. I have an HDMI monitor and a regular VGA monitor but at 1080p. The BNC cables on the unit…

Quick and easy installation, suitable for CCTV

About two weeks ago I bought a 16 channel Amcrest Pro HD without a hard drive to replace a DVR left by the last homeowner. Setup: Installation was fairly easy, although the ports on the back feel a bit cramped for each camera, making it difficult to plug in and latch. I found that if I wanted to remove the connection from, say, channel 5, I had to remove the surrounding cameras to make it easier to unplug. - There is no power switch, so the device turns on as soon as it is plugged in. Once…
