The device provides channels for recording video from 16 Amcrest security cameras to an internal hard drive. A separate POE switch is required to use POE cameras. It seems to do what it's supposed to do most of the time. But a security NVR isn't something you want to "expect" to work MOST of the time, you want it to work so you never have to think about it. I can't tell if the hardware is at fault or if it's the viewer software, but I'm getting playback errors (Failed to start playback. Finally got around to updating the camera system. Clumsy old 720p cameras. My ALTER DVR supports 12 channels but only in 960p resolution. I buy 1080 and 5MP cameras (amazing resolution) and wanted each channel to be able to record in the native resolution of the cameras that SVEC has. Now let me tell you something else.
