Working with Foscam C1 Cameras

Amcrest NV4116-HS works well with Foscam C1 when the cameras are in ONVIF mode. Just don't forget to enable this mode on the cameras and customize the ONVIF ports (this mode is disabled on the cameras by default or after a hard reset). These settings allow Amcrest software for Android (Amcrest View Pro) and Windows (Chrome browser app) to also display live feeds from these cameras. You can save the default IP port settings on the cameras to use Foscam software or 3rd party software at the same…

Bit of a crap

I bought this and hooked up 9x 4k cameras to it and it was so slow I couldn't play it at all after about a week of recording. I could see it was being recorded and I called tech support and they had a remote session and told me it wasn't working properly and I needed to submit an RMA for it. After I submit an RMA, I submit it, and that's after 15 times the number of emails, 10 phone calls, and three weeks. I finally found someone who could find out what happened to him. I received an email the…

A good choice when more than 8 cameras are needed.

My rating is for NVR Amcrest NV4116-HS. I've been using this machine for a couple of weeks. The device provides channels for recording video from 16 Amcrest security cameras to an internal hard drive. A separate POE switch is required to use POE cameras. An internal hard drive must also be provided and installed. I used a 4TB Western Digital Purple drive and it was easy to install. The device is small, light and has a fan, but it is not silent. This NVR doesn't support rack mounting, so I put…

Save money and time stay away from this device

The physical NVR might be fine, but the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software is a disaster. I have different types of Amcrest cameras and they all work very well. Setting it up for them is easy. I use one for the webcam on my website. I use others to oversee property when I'm away. I thought it would be nice to have a centralized way to record and manage their feeds and it seemed reasonable that this would be easier with an NVR from the same company, Amcrest. Big mistake! After several weeks of…

Usually works fine

It seems to do what it's supposed to do most of the time. But a security NVR isn't something you want to "expect" to work MOST of the time, you want it to work so you never have to think about it. I can't tell if the hardware is at fault or if it's the viewer software, but I'm getting playback errors (Failed to start playback. DHNETSDK returns an error) and have to restart, and that doesn't always help. Also the first position in the live view doesn't work half the time. I put camera 1 in that…

Recording in your camera's resolution

Finally got around to updating the camera system. Clumsy old 720p cameras. My ALTER DVR supports 12 channels but only in 960p resolution. I buy 1080 and 5MP cameras (amazing resolution) and wanted each channel to be able to record in the native resolution of the cameras that SVEC has. Now let me tell you something else. A wrinkle, if you will. I connected 4 cameras via a wifi extender. In and on a separate building. My old DVR had no problems with it. I downloaded this beautiful dash cam and…
