Existing reviews have clearly shown that the two disadvantages are that it is not very "user friendly" and has noisy fans. But those comments also describe much of the competition. The "handy" part goes away over time, but the fan issue remains. This 4K NVR system is a great upgrade (or even better for a first time purchase). There are 8 powered PoE ports for connecting IP cameras directly. This NVR works, I have 4 Amcrest POE cameras and they are all connected to the NVR. NVR records 4 cameras. BUT. There are many undocumented features, functions and fields on the screens that are not described in the manual or online blogs. I'm not sure how much I'm in love with the latest version I found with this DVR. I would like to know that if I use the POE ports on the back of the NVR, my cameras on the NVR will be completely isolated from other cameras.
