It does exactly what it's supposed to do - converts DVI to HDMI. It is important to understand that the DVI standard does not include audio, only video. If necessary, a separate audio cable must be laid.

Not sure if it failed. Has worked fine for 14 months. For the past 30 days it has had intermittent failures that required reinstalling (repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting) and now it doesn't work at all. I bought these to connect very old monitors I had to newer computer gear. I used to use rigid adapters but sometimes this resulted in the cable being too low for easy use. Being short cables allows them to bend and fit better. I've also used this to connect the same monitors to my Blue-Ray player, Nintendo Switch and even my iPhone. During the Covid-19 pandemic I used old monitors as secondary displays in my home office. I have now saved some money on buying new monitors.
