Bought this little guy to replace the Displayport extension. I needed to connect my work laptop to a personal monitor without having to crawl across the floor to reconnect the cable to my personal desktop at the end of the work day. No, the laptop could not detect the monitor with this switch. This works very well in my assembled KVM setup which has another device for switching the keyboard, mouse and other peripherals. The only complaint is that, as others have pointed out, it would be much cleaner and easier to place all the plugs on the back of the device (although the other switch I have for my USB peripherals has the same design flaw). Works very well. I use it to share a display on two computers. The transitions between displays appear to be fairly smooth. However, the arrangement of the cables on the desk is a bit awkward. With two cables coming out opposite each other, there's no good way to place it on the back edge of a table. In fact I have it on the side, the button is facing me. Aside from that little clumsiness, I'm very happy with how it works.

This product just doesn't work as described and I'm willing to bet thousands of dollars that the seller knows. This switch barely works at most resolutions, even at 59 Hz. The description says this runs at 1440p at 120Hz and higher. Let me make a correction, if you flip the switch over 200 times, it can run at 120Hz+ a total of 3 times.
