Great device, especially for the price!

Love this setup! I also have an FT8800 and the AT-5888UV does pretty much everything my Yaesu does. I had no problems with programming by hand or with software. The guide is a bit messy, but the essence is clear. I use it as a base connected to a Diamond X-50A @ 25ft vertical antenna and I can meet repeaters over 60 miles away and I live in a valley. The wattmeter shows exactly the specified power: 35W UHF/50W VHF. I hooked up my IC 706mk2g to see if there was any noticeable difference inโ€ฆ

I like it! - Portable AV

First, I'm deducting a star because of the poor documentation that comes with the programming software. The radio works well, but the setup and menus are unintuitive and taking too long to figure out what to do. I spent two evenings on this and I think I get it now. After programming the radio I can say that I really like it, it transmits well and the performance is as advertised. I get good signal reports and reception is good. I haven't tried all of the features yet, but I'll edit them when I

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Updates available

My first 5888UV came with a remote faceplate mount, programming cable and remote head cable. This radio was great. The second radio came without all of these items, you had to read the fine print! my fault I had to go and buy additional accessories. The metal bracket that supports the body of the Remote Head is not suitable for its intended purpose, too thin, although the plastic body is suitable. I immediately drilled out the rivet, mounted the plastic body onto the Proclip swivel mount custom

Almost there, but not quite.

I have had the radio for two days. First impression, programming with CHIRP is quite easy, the programming cable is included. I haven't tried the programming software that comes with the radio on a small CD. It looks and looks well constructed and the controls work well. The fan is quiet and the radio seems to be putting out advertised power based on my power meter. The big downside is the quality of the sound received, which is terrible - tiny and small, especially the microphone speakerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High quality assembly
Cons
  • Some small things

If the software is similar to the FT-8500 software, I think it will be.

Edited July 31, 2017 Well I went out to edit the program I had on the second radio I replaced when the first died. Well that would allow me to program it, but when I tried to plug in the mic to change the frequencies the way I wanted it, nothing on the mic worked, it didn't light up, NOTHING. So lugging two bad luck makes me think the whole line is junk I say again DO NOT BUY THESE RADIOS they are junk if they die so fast. I originally paid $250 for each radio, so $500 plus dollars is down theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

Good radio: Radio

Very good radio. I've been using it for a few months now and it works very well according to my personal preferences (= what I expected). The leadership is a little hurt in . but a little imagination helps to get around that. The easiest way is to hook it up to a powered desk/kitchen table, a dummy load and a computer, try different settings and see what happens. The programming cable must be ordered separately, the software is available online. You can use Chirp (latest version supports thisโ€ฆ

Exceptional Value CB & Talkback Radios

I waited a little over two months after purchasing this radio before posting a review to give a good break time to base my opinion on to have. In short, I am very happy with the radio and will soon be purchasing a second AnyTone Dual Band AT-5888UV. I was initially hesitant to purchase the radio after reading some of the reviews, but the radio has worked flawlessly so far. Transmissions have been made at all power levels to both near and far repeaters and have also been used on the VHF simplexโ€ฆ

Nothing to say yet, brand new, I pray very much that this good radio works well, unlike the last one, not this radio but another from a different manufacturer here at Revain. It's a bit difficult for other customers when reading reviews, some say cables for programming and software are included, others don't, so from 9/2015 you have to buy cables and accessories separately, we bought cables separately from the radio here Revain. We think it's a good product, we use 2.0 software. Anotherโ€ฆ
