Almost tried to return or contact customer service thinking they sent the wrong size screws, they seemed too big for the pre-drilled holes in the truck bed. I was afraid of tearing a hole or breaking a bolt as one reviewer mentioned. Then I saw that another reviewer advised pre-lubricating the screw. I added a very small amount of wd-40 to each bolt hole and it worked like clockwork. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it has to be in the instructions! Otherwise it was perfect.

I didn't use the screws that came with it. I decided to buy stainless steel rather than risk using the oxide treated plates that came with the plates. I also tapped the holes first as I didn't have an impact wrench to install the screws. I'm glad I did as the pre-drilled holes I made made it very easy to install the panels with no risk of the screws breaking off (which I've seen in some reviews). I have a 2018 F150 with factory plates installed. Like the other reviewer, these spikes don't fit. They only fit halfway before they become too tight. I think it's possible that I sand down the plastic and use a rubber mallet to install them (suggestion from other reviewers), but I feel like I don't have to. I'm debating whether to go back and spend a few bucks more on a higher rated set or use some power tools and elbow grease to get them fit.

Because Ford did not pre-drill the screw holes, the screws provided are self-tapping screws. Use each drill bit in SLOW mode and do not over-rev. Whatever holds the screws is pretty flimsy metal. I hope you buy the brackets and brackets at the same time, because you really need to dry them before installing the brackets. The tolerance is very tight, so you'll have to hit it a few times with a rubber mallet or mallet to "stretch" the ABS.
