For such money, and I got it for 8500, this is how IMBA gamers say! For professionals, there is a price niche, but for an amateur enthusiast, that's it. For video, it will only work if another sound is superimposed, or shooting with a buttonhole.

Pros
  • Sharpness at 1.8, superb blurring, appearance - a kind of brutal booty fat man, equipment - although made of thin plastic, but there is a hood and it copes with its task. And most importantly, color reproduction!
Cons
  • Focus sound. In a confined space, or in a room with good acoustics, it resembles a servo drive of a faulty robot)) On a glider and when shooting a subject without haste, no complaints. moreover, a loud sound is only when refocusing over considerable distances, when focusing the eye-ear-bangs, the usual soft sound. For some reason, it attracts dust particles to the body, as if some kind of electrification. at the lens.

Amazing build quality and soft bokeh!

Considering the price, this lens really won me over. Picture quality is excellent, especially for the price, and build quality is excellent. There is some play in the focus ring, but it's definitely acceptable. Build quality seems slightly better than the Yongnuo 35mm and I wish Mike had the 35mm autofocus like his 85mm lens. My only complaint is that there is no Meike lens profile for Lightroom (yet?). If Adobe would fix the Lens Profile Maker download link, I would make my own.

  • Ideal for a small home

Broke after minimal use.

You will notice dust in the photo - after the lens popped out I wrapped it in paper towel (the only thing I had on hand). The photos were good for the street work I do, but I've only been using it for such a short time that I haven't had a chance to really test it. I contacted the manufacturer as it is still under warranty. Edit: A new lens will be sent. If it holds, I'll change my rating (probably up to four) based on the quality of the photo, the cost, and the manufacturer's responsiveness…

Definitely! I love this lens!

I needed a good all round lens and all my photographer friends told me to get an 85 prime. Well I found this on Amazon and saw the price and said it's a piece of crap I'm sure. but i said what the hell and i bought it anyway. I just unboxed it, hooked it up to my 5D Mark III, took a few shots and figured it can't be that good for the price. But I've learned that this little sucker is amazing. I love it, love it and in fact it's sharper than my Canon 1.2. I will definitely buy another lens from…

Superb portrait lens

This 85mm lens is great for portraits. The glass delivers sharp and detailed photos that rival more expensive lenses. When used on a Canon EOS DSLR with a full-frame EF mount, the lens looks solid without being bulky or heavy. The focus ring is large enough to control fine-tuning of focus before shooting. Produces beautiful bokeh for close-ups at f2.8. The weakest point of this lens is the autofocus, which tends to breathe a lot before focusing. The engine is pretty loud. However, given the…

Great lens! - Lenses for SLR cameras

Received the lens today and am very satisfied! I needed this for my 1 year old twins birthday party to complement my professional 50mm camera. I love this lens! Sharp picture, breathtaking details and side effects stand out. Using it straight away, I found that autofocus got faster when I made small adjustments to the normal settings. The mechanism is not as loud as I thought, that will be based on the reports I have read, yes you can hear it a little. But nothing distracts me from using the…

It's a great lens for the price.

I bought this lens for my Canon Crop Sensor DSLR. Since this is a crop sensor camera, that 85mm lens is roughly equivalent to a 135mm lens. I have a 50mm f/1.8 lens, which is the equivalent of an 80mm lens, so I bought this lens for something longer. I didn't want to spend a lot on it as I won't be using it that often, but it would be nice to have it with such a low aperture when needed. For this money, literally hundreds less than brand name 85mm lenses, this lens is a keeper. I have a few…
