Description of Aqua Lung Impulse Snorkel White

The Impulse 3 uses a two-valve system. If a wave breaks over the snorkel, the patented, upper, annular valve directs most of the water out before it even reaches the mouthpiece. Any water that does get past the annular valve drains out the lower valve The reservoir located below the mouthpiece keeps breathing path clear of excess water. In the rare event that you need to clear the Impulse 3 Snorkel, almost no breath is needed, all it takes is an easy puff. Patented Comfo-bite mouthpieces, which does not require the user to clench their teeth, eliminate jaw fatigue. An optional, smaller size Comfo-bite is available. Comfo-bite mouthpieces are replaceable. The flex model allows the lower unit to drop away for use with a regulator.

Fantastic Freediving!

Works great for browsing. Water doesn't come in because huge waves crash on the top. MUCH more hydrodynamic than the first two generations. In fact, it doesn't dangle like the Mu Plain J tubes when you move quickly underwater. I only bought the snorkel for big waves, but it's so easy to clean and so streamlined that it's my go-to choice.

got inflexible version instead ordered flexible

The tube works fine but the hard body they sent me was uncomfortable because it always tries to get a little out of the mouth. It is not suitable for snorkeling because you cannot keep it away from your mouth when not in use. It's a decent tube but I think I should have returned it for the flex version I ordered if I had had more time before my trip.

Comfortable and dry

I have been scuba diving (as an instructor) and ocean snorkeling for over 30 years and have used many types of snorkels. This is my 2nd and deserves a comment. It has the most comfortable mouthpiece I have ever used. It also breathes well without resistance and is as dry as you would expect from a non-top valve snorkel. I also swim about 2 miles a week with this snorkel and can breathe like my face isn't even in the water. Love it.

Pros
  • Easy to fit
Cons
  • Protection

I hate this whistle

I swim a lot in open water and inevitably get caught in the waves and sometimes the wind. This tube is problematic every time. It has a reservoir where the salt water just IS, and then I inhale and swallow it. There's always some water in there that gurgles when I breathe and swim. In addition, the flexible part is so long that the top of the snorkel tilts towards the water. I can't believe I spent $50 on such unsatisfactory gear.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • unreliable

I like the design and it's easier to clean than one.

I'm not 100% buying this tube yet, I like its design and it's easier to clean than a tube with the valve closed on top. The flexible silicone part of the snorkel is almost too flexible, I felt the snorkel tilted way forward when snorkeling instead of coming straight out of the water. I didn't have any water at all, but I didn't snorkel in the big waves back then. The mouthpiece is very comfortable as is a quality regulator which is why I made the purchase in the first place. I dived with it for

Best snorkels on the market

I've been diving for over 30 years and as far as snorkeling goes these are the best snorkels you can get, I've tried many dozens of them. It's easy to clean and you hardly ever get water in your mouth. The silicone mouthpieces are soft so they won't rub your gums or teeth. There are five in my family and each of us has a pulse tube. The difference between impulses 1, 2 and 3 is only cosmetic, they all work equally well. Flex versus static rigid is my personal choice, I have both and both work…

My favorite snorkeling. The big hole is pretty wonderful.

Excellent snorkel. I have tried many different models and this is my favorite. Pros: The large opening is great. Some prefer a smaller bore to reduce drag, but the greater amount of air you get from a larger bore more than makes up for it. You won't realize how much resistance other tubes put on you until you try a hole that big. You breathe as if from the water. Comfortable mouthpiece. You don't have to bite, so there is no mouth fatigue. - Easy to clean. I found myself blowing on it too hard…

Not worth the cost in sport

I love a place where I can freedive in the sea all year round. The sea can sometimes be rough with waves. I have had an Impulse 1 tube for over twenty years and unfortunately it has finally failed. It wasn't the most attractive design, but it performed like a champ and kept the inside of the tube very dry. I could attach a flowing water hose to the top of the tube and very little water would get into the mouthpiece valve. Most if not all of the water is diverted and discharged at the base of…
