Embossed Electronics

This was the cheapest cable modem I could find anywhere, simple and straightforward. I primarily associate Arris with institutional rather than consumer applications, so I was hoping it would be a bit more reliable than some of the products sold by commercial vendors. It wasn't hard for me to call my ISP and set it up on my system and in 8 months it would have fully paid for itself in exchange for the absolutely exorbitant fees my ISP charged for "modem rental". I just wish I could take the…

Works very well good for computers and accessories

This modem worked fine from the start but I spent half a day setting it up at the cable company. They said they don't support it, but I used their modem, that's the exact modem I bought. They just wanted me to upgrade and use the money to rent their new Super Wam-O-Dyne modem that doesn't get any better than this. I have a Netgear Wi-Fi router that completes the system. If you need your own modem, talk to someone other than the cable company and set up your system the way you want.

  • worth the money

It just won't activate online.

After several calls to Optimum and many visits to the techs, nothing. 2 solid orange indicators. Terrible. I even skipped the return window as the troubleshooting process was very long. I installed it for my disabled sister who is on a budget so traveling back and forth was a hassle for me. Eventually I got the idea to use my own modem that I knew worked at her house and try her modem at mine. Mine worked there, this brick didn't work here. Terrible, but kudos to Amazon for extending the…

Five stars for best networking products

Works with my 100Mb Comcast connection. Update April 2018 --------------------------------- ------------- - ---- ---------------- I've used this with Comcast for years. This is a fantastic modem. I'm getting 97 Mbps on my 105 Mbps Comcast connection right now. Yes, it's an old DOCSIS3.0 modem with an 8x4 connection that still works. If you're on a serious budget, I think Revain offers refurbished versions for $25-$30. If you're looking to buy a modem now and for years to come, I'd look at 16x4…

The device never worked properly

Purchased on February 4th 2021, the two lights never turned green, the device did not link the channels as it should. The service provided to me appeared to troubleshoot and hooked up a good modem and I got the green light and my upload speed jumped from 5mb to 10mb to 98 to 100. I see it took a while to get my device got it back, hopefully the seller will monitor the reviews and contact me with a request to exchange the unit.

Pros
  • Looking forward to it

No more Comcast modem fees!

Replacing the Comcast modem with my own new Arris Touchstone cable modem was easy (actually my husband replaced it for me because he's just a nice guy but no problem). I got it on 11/5. received and on 7.11. Installed. Called Comcast 800# at 8:35pm and spoke to someone offshore. Told the rep I have my own spare Comcast modem and provided the serial number and CMAC number. The representative then sent it for activation. I checked the modem for the lights and was relieved to see that they were…

works great and is compatible with many ISP requirements.

This is an excellent modem for its price. It supports most ISPs and their different speed tiers. The only negative I have to say about it is the lack of a power button conveniently located on the device. Most routers come with them, and I've seen a few other modems as well. This makes it easy to quickly restart your modem or when you're out of town for a while, rather than unplugging it. Nevertheless, this deficiency is not enough to justify a negative review of the product. This modem does…

Works as it should. Within 3 weeks

Works just as well as the modem that Xfinity loaned us. Our tariff is designed for 25/5 Mbit/s. Tests show that this modem offers download speeds of 20-30 Mbps and upload speeds of 5-6 Mbps (depending on the test). This modem is on the Xfinity/Comcast compatibility list. That's better than paying an extra $10 in rent every month. All you have to do is call your cable provider and ask them to add this modem to your data plan. It's been 10 minutes and you're done. I like it when things go…
