Worked well on our Suzuki Sidekick

Worked great and at an affordable price. Our sidekick made the needles jump and growl with 180,000 miles on the original cable. Note that operating the Suzuki Sidekick without a speedometer cable will generate an engine check code. This will fix it if the speedometer is the cause of your code.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Quality

This speedometer cable is defective. There is an outer jacket.

speedometer cable defective. The outer sheath is much shorter than the inner cable. If you connect the cable to the speedometer and then to the gearbox, the plastic sleeve at the end of the speedometer will separate from the cable housing because the inner cable is too long. You can't just cut the end off because the end of the cable is welded and square. So when you cut it off it isn't square to fit on the speedometer. I returned this product for a refund.

Works well - has a few issues

The product description shows a rubber grommet for the firewall - it wasn't in my kit so I had to reuse the old one. It also did not arrive with cable lube as stated in the description. The end of the plastic connector that attaches to the instrument cluster is much longer than the factory cable, so there's no way it can fit through the hole in the firewall. But it can be removed if you pull hard on it, then you can thread the cable through the firewall and then push it back in. You may need to
