Well built except. for boating and sailing

This is a great shifter. The mechanism is solid and there is a notch on the handle so it turns easily. However, one of the contacts came loose during installation. They are threaded so that when you tighten the nut securing the cables, the threaded rod comes loose from the device. It was quite frustrating, but I managed to re-tighten the terminal with channel locks and protect the threads with a washcloth. Sounds weird but it works and I hope I never have to do it again.

  • Rugged construction with bakelite body, copper washers and solid brass fittings and nuts

  • No automatic shifting

About half an hour later the outboard motor alarm went off. I had to switch to a battery pack and about half an hour later the engine alarm went off again. After highlighting the issue. I thought the problem was with the new battery selector. I would not buy this product. I would pay more for a more durable and

Studs were loose when exercising

I bought 2. I noticed the cleat was spinning when I put the first one on. After a few months I had to fiddle with the handle to start the boat. When I replaced it over the winter, I found two bolts were loose. I figured I might have overtightened it so I looked up the torque spec. I couldn't find one from Attwood so I used Blue Sea specs (120 in-lbs). The bolts didn't turn on the replacement switch so I'm guessing my first one was assembled on a Friday. If the bolt rotates during installation…
