Received this product yesterday and needed to use it immediately. It's great for any type of meat and helps cook everything evenly. It would never have occurred to me to use a round one instead of a square one, but my goodness, it fits my cast iron pans a lot easier. I just received my cast iron bacon maker and have used it twice. Both times along with my 12 inch cast iron skillet. Used it as a bacon press and as a sausage press. In both cases it worked great. The sausages were cut lengthwise and without a press would curl and cook unevenly. and more even. I was amazed at the difference the press made!
