Great tool - works as intended

Works great. Here's what you need to know if you've never used it or have had trouble. The crown barrel is pressed in and usually the head tube has some kind of taper. When you use the tool, it may not actually loosen the clip, but it will move it up the shaft. At this point, you can tap it lightly with a rubber mallet or rubber mallet. Then the race should be over. The tool's job is to pry it out of the set so it can be easily removed.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Available in white only

Learn to use it properly - a great tool!

This did exactly what I needed and the result was an undamaged overtaking crown separated from the fork. I've read a lot of previous reviews and the first thing to do is to use it properly: you don't just twist it together and 'pop' the crown race. You hand tighten it as tight as you can, then flip it over and tap it evenly with a rubber mallet to loosen the crown ring. Since this creates more space between the crown and clevis, repeat the step again. You keep pulling the slack and tightening…

Great tool for hobbyists or DIY enthusiasts!

I'm not a professional bike mechanic, but I had to help a neighbor remove the shells from the headset and go racing. Sure, bike shops often use Park Tool's CRP-2 puller, but this tool costs $215. What better way for a home mechanic to do the same job for a lot less money? Yes, there is, and you're checking it out. This bike racing puller is very simple. Simply place both V-notch edges under the crown, then lightly tap up or down with a hammer. In less than a minute you can remove your old crown

Pros
  • One year probationary period
Cons
  • unreliable

Works temporarily. Will most likely damage your fork

This tool will help remove triple clamps in some situations but is extremely inefficient and will most likely damage your fork. The angled blades designed to fit under the crown barrel are very blunt and proved too thick to fit under the barrel on some of my forks. A separate tool was required to start the removal and then this tool was used to proceed. Because this tool is just a wedge/clamp, additional tools (read: a hammer) are required to apply the removal force. On impact, the tool flexes…

  • Dope 🔥

Worked well when I upgraded my MTB forks

I bought a bike headset removal tool, fork, crown, race when I upgraded my MTB forks and same headset and all wanted to reuse parts. All parts of the headset were in great condition and just needed servicing. Bike Hand's crown removal tool got the job done and managed without damaging my crown or steerer tube (though I wasn't planning on using it any longer). I did not damage the tool while using it (contrary to what was reported in another review). After just one use, I think the next time I…
