2017 Duramax in Steering System

2017 GMC Duramax with max suspension. A simple installation works well. The steering wheel doesn't twitch when driving, like some things do. No other changes to the suspension other than rotating the buttons a bit.

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Damaged

Tightened tracking. If your truck isn't.

Improved tracking. If your truck is not leveled properly, it may pull to the right. My 2013 Sierra 2500 HD did not come with this stabilizer. This is not required. But I think it improves steering.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some difficulties

However, this will NOT fit the 2016 model.

This will NOT fit the 2016 model, although the official installation guide on the Bilstein website says it can. The damper does not come with mounting brackets that you must install on 2016 and newer trucks. You'll have to find some mounts elsewhere.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Band

Absolutely Terrible

Despite the mixed reviews I decided to try my luck. Yes it was wrong. As others have complained about the positive shock-like charge, my truck drove correctly even after doing it as others have just attempted this route. I returned this and put a Rancho shock on my truck.

Pros
  • Sturdy Finish
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Made my front like new!

I bought a 2011 LML used in 2013. Not sure if the previous owner removed the anti-roll bar or if it was never there. But I just discovered it didn't have that, so I ordered it right away. Doesn't matter! My truck feels like it has a brand new front end! Everything seems so tight and much better controlled. After my trailing air springs, this is the second best thing I've ever done to my truck!

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Great steering damper!

The Bilstein 5100 steering damper is awesome! It was installed on my 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500HD (6.6L Duramax) along with the Suspensionmaxx alignment kit and rear lift blocks, Suspensionmaxx steering stabilizer, Bilstein 5100 front and rear shocks and 295 65R20 Nitro Terra Grappler G2. The overpressure damper works amazingly well and actively dampens the "steering" that is common with leveled/raised trucks. Mandatory product!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Negative available

SHIT! Makes your truck pull to the right.

I installed this on my 2015 Silverado 2500HD. He exploded immediately. But save yourself the headache and just buy a ranch. For some reason this thing is loaded with gas. (albeit at low pressure) It tries to expand when it breaks, like a punch. This is very bad for the steering stabilizer! As a result, the truck always pulls to the right, no matter what you do. Even if the orientation is correct. It's not so bad when it's hot outside, but in winter it's really annoying when it's cold, as it…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous
