Blackburn Grid 1 Standard Rear Bicycle Rack Review

Blackburn has an excellent reputation as a bike rack manufacturer. This particular trunk is perfect for those who want to keep weight down but need to carry cargo for long trips. The stand is light but strong. It is designed with extensions on the bottom to fit disc brake bikes without getting in the way or protruding on either side. I love this design. I use racks on every bike I own. It's the best I've ever had. I recommend it.

came all scratched and disappointed at once. Attaching the rack to the bike is easy, it doesn't fit my Excaliber 8 29er. the screws stick out of the frame do i really need 4 washers? I used smaller screws and it still didn't stick to my frame. It comes with lots of hardware and extra mounts if your bike doesn't allow a rack, but my bike has mounts specifically for the rack and it doesn't fit flush!

I have been using baskets for several years and before that similar more expensive shelves. I love the simple, durable design that will hold up my bags and anything I can carry in them. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles like patented quick connectors, decks, spring clamps or lights. The Blackburn Grid meets my needs for under $75 (bought from Revain for $35). So I was able to find a way to mount this to my frame near the hub and then tilt the arms with extra support for the seatstays. (which moves separately from the seat attached to the main frame). It flexes a bit so be aware. I managed to break the weight limit without damaging anything. (Not that I'm being too reckless, but if you're good with the mechanical limitations of something you'll know what I mean.) So far, it's worth it. :)

I bought this rack hoping to adapt it to my Catrike 700. I figured I'd have to buy additional hardware to make it work, but it came with a very clever set of fasteners that I was able to attach to my hang glider with no problem. I have several other Blackburn products so I already knew the quality would be excellent. The universal attachment system was a pleasant surprise. Wow, I've looked through all the racks on Revain and elsewhere to find the one that fits my bike. I almost gave up before finding this shelf. I have weird bike rack mounts where the racks are right where the rear brakes are so the bike rack arms couldn't attach to the racks that should have been there for the rack because the brakes are in the way. Blackburn advertises them as the easiest rack to install. It is true! All I needed was the Allen key that came with it. The rack seems to be infinitely adjustable (well thought out design btw) so it fits almost any bike. A spirit level can help level your bike rack if you don't want to just look at it. My Jamis Expat has many eyelets for mounting, but Blackburn has bike mounts without eyelets. Blackburn racks are bulletproof. My old Serratus baskets fit perfectly. I almost bought a different…
