This works: Oils

I've had a power steering line/pump leak for the past several years, even after replacing the pump. I have used several products over the years and my favorite is Lucas Stop Leak Power Steering Fluid. For the most part it worked and I had to use it every few weeks. Then I read about Blue Devil. I decided to try this and use within 4 ounces. there is no more leakage. I haven't even had to invest in the past month. I'm sold!

Everything works - oils and fluids

We have been struggling with a power steering leak for a few weeks now. It got so bad that I almost ran out of fluids after a few weeks. I couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was coming from, but I tried to stop the leak from Lucas and a few others that didn't work. It's a little pricey but worth it. I've been riding it for a few months now after filling a full bottle and the tank only went down a little. Very impressed with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone with a nasty power

😊 Happy customer, best in hydraulic oils

Added to the tank and drove my truck for about a week and the leak stopped completely. I was amazed how this product stopped the leak. The bottom line is follow the directions and drive your car or truck for a while, maybe a few days to a week and you will see results. My mechanic charged me $850 to fix a leak on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi Truck, but this product saves me that money. I'm glad I tried Blue Devil and I highly recommend this product. It has been 8 months since using Blue Devil…

It just works! - Oils

As other people said - it just works. I had a severe leak around the pinion shaft on the steering rack. so bad that I had to add fluid to the steering reservoir on a weekly basis. A new rack (parts, labor, alignment) costs about $900, and this one is $10. Not a very difficult decision. I poured about 2 ounces of this product with a new steering reservoir refill for fear that too much could over inflate the o-rings and cause more damage. This was the last necessary refueling. Three months later…

VERY impressed: hydraulic oils

If you own a Chevy Astrovan with its idiotic power steering pump/brake booster COMBINATION (VERY bad idea!), just assume you're going to change the block every year or so at the very least by adding gallons of power steering fluid until it runs out completely. (Door locks and fuel pumps are also a problem on Astrovans.) And I've tried about half a dozen other "leak stop" products, including NAPA's generic version, and they never seem to work. BUT THIS IS STUPID. I only added a very small amount

  • handy stuff

Half a bottle and 5 minutes idling stopped a constant leak

I had a fairly constant power steering fluid leak in my 2002 BMW X5. Like some of the other reviewers here, I tried a few other products first. Started with Bar's, a two part product that seemed to work for a day or two but then proved ineffective. Next I tried to stop a Lucas power steering leak and I usually think Lucas products are great, but this one didn't change the leak. I asked Firestone to look at it during one of their multi-point inspections and they told me it was indeed the strut…

My 2004 Maxim had a major rack leak *UPDATED

My 2004 Maxim had a major rack leak. I tried the Lucas and it slowed it down but it still leaked pretty badly, I topped up fluid every few days and my driveway was stained and Lucas made my pump squeak very loudly. Since my car has a lot of mileage and repairs aren't worth the cost I was considering selling my car but after reading other reviews here decided to give this product a try. I topped up the fluid and after a few hours my power steering was completely gone! The next day my power…

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

In 40 years of caring for my friends and family, BlueDevil Power Steering Stop Leak is the first product I can remember that really and completely lived up to its name and promises. I simply followed the directions on the bottle and added about 3 ounces of product to the PS reservoir, which after continuous slow learning was already low (about 1 ounce per day). After a few hours of driving for 2 days, the level in the tank stopped falling. Since I topped it up slightly above the Max Cold level,

If you don't succeed at first

SEE THREE YEAR UPDATE AT THE END. Actually, I had the same experience as the other reviewer. My 1998 Toyota Sienna Minivan was diagnosed with a power steering leak. I was told that there was no other option for repair than to replace the entire rack, which, combined with the labor cost, cost about $1,000. I will not make that type of investment in a second car that is 17 years old and has 140,000 miles on the odometer. The next step was to take a risk and try to plug the leak inside the…
