BOSCARE Electric Kettle: Stainless Steel 1.7L Pour Over Coffee and Tea Pot - Auto Shut Off & Boil-Dry Protection Review

I was curious to see how quickly the water boils. I filled it about 2/3 full (enough for two cups of tea) and started the timer. Incredibly, it reached boiling point in 1 minute 38 seconds, which was much faster than expected. Also like the fact that it automatically shuts off the power when it reaches boiling point. Very nice and semi-modern device. I placed a 12 ounce can of Coke next to it and in it to show its size. Perfect size for one or two people.

Appearance and functionality are excellent. I like the glass carafe. I like being able to set the temperature (within a small range of options). However, a brew basket in the decanter is the only lid option. I'm afraid that after using the brewer, this kettle will just be an expensive version of a cheap hotel coffee maker: no matter what you use it with, the hot water will taste like old coffee. Advantages: The coating on the outside is matt black, so it looks very stylish. I love it on my countertop. The gooseneck facilitates the controlled pouring of water; good for making coffee. I had a kettle that broke completely after 4 years of daily use. Wanted to buy one but sold out. I needed a variable temperature and the BOSCARE kettle has it. I like the fun lightbulbs that tell you when the kettle is at the right temperature. The clear glass jug is new to me but seems to wash well. I am returning the Boscare 1.7 liter kettle without using it. Upon closer examination of the kettle upon opening, I found that the tea diffuser assembly is permanently attached and while the 'basket' may or may not be removable, the stem and plastic lid of the basket remain attached. The diffuser basket itself does NOT attach securely to the top, it only has three friction "bulges" that easily hold the basket in place. It can easily come off and make a mess.
