🪚 Bosch RS031 5-inch Soft Sanding Pad (3107DVS, 3725DEVS) Review

Over time, the loops on the disc break so that the hooks on the grinding wheel no longer grip. The paper no longer sticks, so you can no longer sand. It replaces the pillow to get you back in business. The soft padding allows the paper to flex, making it last longer. 3 screws hold it to the grinder drive. This is the critical part.

I expected the plate to be similar to the original version. It was advertised as a "soft sanding pad" but feels as hard as a solid plastic disk. The grinder came, it's a lot softer than this one! Maybe I should have ordered "extra soft" to better handle contours. She has zero flexibility.

Arrived on time and was worth the wait. I wasn't expecting it to be OEM but it came in a Bosch box so that was a nice bonus. As others have said, this is not really a "soft" base pillow. It does squeeze a bit, though, and I'd call it standard. My parents are downsizing and dad gave me all his old tools. Mostly in various accidents. This one solution allowed me to replace and clean the grinder and now it works very well. I bet it lasts another 10 years or so.

RS031 and RS032 fit perfectly on the 3283DVS grinder. But none of them fit the 3725DVS because they are too thick. These pads are 12.65mm thick while the standard pad is 10.35mm thick. This means that the replacement pads rub against the rubber dust cover. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I plan to call Bosch and find out what's going on. I tried to push the seal away from the rubber seal with a washer but the seal came loose. I ended up removing the rubber gasket which solved the friction

This is a replacement for the original grinding wheel on my Bosch grinder which fell apart after a few years of brief use.
